Dirigo Film Festival
Date: 20/09/18-30/01/19
Job role:
- Social media manager
For the Dirigo Film Festival, all of the crew were assigned roles. The roles to choose from were, director, producer, assistant director, submissions manager, social media manager, and designer. I was mainly interested in being the social media manager, this is because I have had a variety of experience in running a social media account, and would also find the experience enjoyable. I also liked that I would not have to rely on other people to do that role, as it is quite independent. I worked close with the producer and the designers, as the producer would tell me what they think I should post, and the designers would link me with logos and posters to upload. There were some issues when other crew had access to the Dirigo social media accounts, and began posting of my behalf. I made clear that I was not happy with this, as it was taking my job role away from me. If anyone had any ideas for me to post then I would happily do it, but I was not okay with other people doing it without asking me. I made sure to update the avatars and banners on all of the social media accounts, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I also created a Facebook event for Dirigo, which people could confirm that they were attending, as well as share around for more people to see. When the date and location was finally confirmed, I would then release new trailers, this is what caught the most attention. Overall, everything went quite well. Even though I had some previous experience, it was challenging at times, but I felt I did the job as best as I could.
